JEE Main 2017 Counselling: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2017 will regulate the common counselling for admissions to 92 Participating Institutes of JEE Main 2017. The main purpose of JoSAA is to provide a single online platform for the candidates to apply in the Participating Institutes of JEE Main 2017 across the country. Admissions to 31 NITs, 22 IITs, ISM Dhanbad, 20 IIITs and 18 Other Government funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs) will be done through the JoSAA 2017. The Counselling of JEE Main 2017 will be held in 6 rounds. The Candidates who appears in JEE Main 2017 will be eligible to register for seat Allocation in the Participating Institutes of JEE Main 2017 and appear for the JEE Main 2017 Counselling. The candidates will have to register, fill up their choices and lock their choices before appearing in the JEE Main 2017 Counselling. The candidates are advised to check information and the procedure of the JEE Main 2017 Counselling below.
The Counselling Process of JEE Main 2017 is divided in the following stages â
Selection of choice.
Consolidation of choice.
Allotment of seat.
Reporting at the reporting centre allotted for each institute.
Reporting to the final allotted institute.
Candidates have to register online to fill in their choices of Institutes and branches.
Candidates have to enter their JEE Main roll no. and password. Once logged in, the candidates have to go through the profile to ensure that all personal information shown is correct.
The candidates will have to click on âPassword Changeâ .It is mandatory to change the password.
Selection of Choice:
Candidates have to fill in their choices of Institutes and branches according to their preferences in decreasing order. Candidates are advised to fill in as many choices as possible.
Candidates must âLockâ their choices. If a candidate fails to do so, their last saved choices will be locked automatically when the time-window of filling in of choices closes.
Allotment of Seat:
There will be six rounds of Seat allocation process for academic programs offered by the Participating Institutes of JEE Main 2017.
Candidates participating in subsequent rounds are required to fill option for âfreezeâ, âslideâ or âfloatâ the choice of academic program.
Candidates are not required to make any payment for registration and filling up of choices.
To accept allotted seats, candidates must pay seat acceptance fee. The seat acceptance fee for SC, ST, PwD candidates in Rs.20, 000 and for others it is Rs.45, 000.
Candidates have to pay the seat acceptance fee through e-challan at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI) or pay online using SBI Internet banking.
Note: The seat acceptance fee mentioned above is according to the year 2016 fee structure. The fee structure will be updated once it is officially announced.
Reporting at the Reporting Centre Allotted for each Institute:
After the payment of the seat acceptance fee, the candidates must report at the respective reporting centres for document verification.
Candidates who are allocated a seat in NIT, IIEST, IIIT or Other-GFTI have to report only at a reporting center of NIT, IIEST, IIIT and Other-GFTI. And, Candidates who are allocated a seat in an IIT or ISM have to report only at a reporting center of the IITs.
There can be a possibility that a candidateâs allotment from NIT + system changes to an IIT/ISM and vice versa. In case it happens, the candidates are required to report at the reporting centre of the changed institute. Therefore, Candidates whose allotment changed from NIT + system to IIT must report to an IIT reporting centre and vice versa. Failure to do so shall result in cancellation of seats in both the systems.
Reporting at the final Allotted Institute:
After the sixth round is over, the candidates have to report to the final allotted Institute and complete their admission process and begin the academic session.
Withdrawal of Seat:
In case a candidate wishes to withdraw his/her seat, he/she can do so by reporting at a reporting centre before the sixth round of seat allocation.

Documents required at the Reporting Centres:
Original along with photocopy of class 12 mark sheet.
Two Passport Sized photos.
Pay slip of Seat Acceptance Fee.
One attested photocopy along with the original Admit card.
Original birth certificate along with one attested copy of it or any other equivalent certificate.
Original name proof certificate along with an attested copy of it.
Original Category certificate with one attested photocopy. For BCL-NCL, category certificate must be issued after 1st June 2015.
PwD candidates will have to produce original and attested photocopy of Disability Certificate.
Duly certified Medical Certificate (Original) in the format which is given on the official format.
Duly certified Declaration form (Original) in the format which is given on the official format.
Foreign candidates will have to provide attested photocopy and original nationality certificate/ passport/ document.
Note: The list of necessary documents listed above is according to the list of required documents at JoSAA Reporting Centres 2016. Changes will be made after the official release of 2017 JoSAA guidelines.
Important Instructions to follow after the Registration Process:
The Candidates must carefully secure the roll number and password.
Candidates must take a printout of the final locked choices for submission during reporting.
Candidates must click the âlogoutâ button and close all the windows related to the session, for security reasons.
Candidates are advised to keep changing the Password at frequent intervals.
Things to Remember:
Candidates who do not register within the specified time period will not be able to seek admission in the Participating Institutes of JEE Main 2017.
Candidates failing to fill in their choices within the stipulated time window will also not be able to seek admission in the JEE Main Participating Institutes 2017.
Dual reporting is a must for candidates whose allotment changes from NIT + system to IIT/ISM and vice versa.
The candidates are advised to keep in mind that choices once LOCKED cannot be modified.
Supernumerary Seats for specific Union Territories:
Supernumerary seats for the Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, and Lakshadweep islands will be in the NITs shown below:

There will be a separate round of seat allocation for these Union Territories and the states of North East (namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura) after the joint seat allocation and seat acceptance under JoSAA. Seat allotment on such seats will be conducted through a Centralized Seat Allotment Board for North Eastern States and Union Territories (CSAB NEUT).
